Hi guys!

I’m spending my night quite literally getting dizzy learning one of the versions of “Dizzy” done at Saddle Ridge. Thanks to our friend, Jenn, I finally got a step sheet so I could hunt down the right videos for it. I know a few folks I’ve talked to have wanted to learn this dance… so why re-invent the wheel when there is a good video out there already!

This version of Dizzy is choreographed by Jo Thompson. It is a 32-count, 4 wall, intermediate dance. If you would like to follow along with a step sheet, click here to get the search on Kick It.

It moves quickly so I recommend going through the instruction part of the video a few times first. Who knows… maybe we’ll teach this in the Tuesday Night “Line Dance Challenge” class…

(I’ve learned a few dances from the woman in this video so I think you’ll find it easy to follow.)

I still dislike this song… and I still sing it at the top of my lungs. But I like the dance so the video tutorial was recorded this evening for you to learn.

This dance can be used for numerous songs aside from “Mean.” We have used it to “Chicken Fried” and “What Was I Thinking?” to name a few. It is 48 count, 4 walls. I translated the step sheet (with Google Translator) and have posted it online here. We submitted it to Kick It to see if they’ll put it online since it wasn’t on their site yet… so we’ll see.

Here is our YouTube video. I apologize in advance for my inability to keep my balance (happens when I slow down the song) and inability to speak… It’s 90+ degrees today so I’m all melty in the brain. The dance is pretty easy once you get it down. I was able to learn it in one night. Just remember that it begins 4 counts after the initial lines that end with “picking on a weaker man.”

We filmed our version of this tutorial on a newer post. Click here to navigate to it.

Admit it. You know you want to dislike this song. I know I do. But you’re probably like us and you can’t stop singing it. You know all the words. You sing it at the top of your lungs when the song comes on. And so… we had to look and see if there was a line dance written for it yet. And, of course, there is.

The videos we’ve found for this dance are all in German (or is that Dutch?). This video shows you the dance first and then there is a teaching lesson after it. The dance is 48-count/4-wall, beginner dance. It is choreographed by Zlatimir Geleta. The dance is pretty easy once you get it down. I was able to learn it in one night. Just remember that it begins 4 counts after the initial lines that end with “picking on a weaker man.” The only step sheet we can find right now is in Dutch. I was able to translate it with Google. I think if you click on this link you may need to run this page through Google Translator. I will get the English version up as soon as I can.

Get addicted and enjoy!

Update: You can also use this dance to numerous songs. We have used it to “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band and “What Was I Thinking?” by Dierks Bentley.

Next up for our filmed tutorials is the dance “Red High Heels.” Surprise, surprise that it goes primarily with the song “Red High Heels” by Kellie Pickler. Generally, the song sounds like nails on a chalk board to me, but the dance itself we think is a one to know because you potentially can dance it three or four times a night. It can be used to quite a few different songs that you generally will hear when out at a country bar such as “Cowboy Casanova” by Carrie Underwood and “Turn on the Radio” by Reba McEntire.

Because of the repetition, we think this dance is good for beginners. As long as you get your bearing with your walls, you should be good to go on this one.

“Red High Heels” is the name of the dance and it’s choreographed by Moses Bourassa Jr. & Barbara Frechette. The step sheet for the dance is here.

And if you really wan to confuse the drunk girls when “Cowboy Casanova” comes on, learn this dance (Be warned, this can be considered an intermediate to advanced dance.):

The dance is named “Casanova Cowboy” and is definitely an Intermediate level dance. When we’re out, yes, we pick on the drunk girls. Maybe we’re mean. But we get entertained watching them drop off one by one when they realize they are too drunk to follow our feet and/or their stiletto heels won’t let them dance. So we find a sick pleasure in learning more difficult dances to the songs that get all the girls crazy (Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, etc.) because we know that by the midnight time, there is no way they are going to figure it out.

Judge us as you will… just learn the dance first.

Okay guys, time to kick it up a notch. This dance is an 80 count. Yes, I said it… an 80 count dance. It takes time to learn; however, it is so much fun once you get it. The dance is called “Electric Cowboy” and is choreographed by Carter Butler. At Saddle Ridge (and Brothers Grimm, of course) we dance this to “Funky Cowboy” by Ronnie McDowell.

The step sheet is here. Good luck! I find it hard to read through. It makes more sense after watching the video, though.

We do apologize for the technical problem in the middle of the video. For some reason the video started skipping. Since it’s a 13 minute long demo, I decided that it is repeated enough that everybody will be okay. If it’s not okay, we’ll refilm that part so let us know!!

Enjoy!

Well, we learned three more facts while filming tutorials:

Kalli and I are really tall so fitting us into the camera window is proving challenging. (She’s 6’0″ and I’m 5’10″.

We need to focus on the feet more in the videos due to the above fact.

Animals do not care if you are filming.

So today we have attempt #2 at filming a tutorial. This dance is a beginner level, 32 count and 4 wall dance to “All My Friends Say” by Luke Bryan. The dance itself is called “All My Friends” and is choreographed by David Pytka. You can download the step sheet here.

So here is my first attempt at teaching a line dance… ever… and yes, we had to leave the part with the cat running across the screen because it made us laugh a lot.

Comments are welcome! What can we do better? And yes, we are aware we have to do better with grabbing the footwork. This dance is pretty easy to learn so we didn’t think we had to re-film it totally. Hey, at least we didn’t film this one on an iPhone! We learned from the last time.
